The office where I work, has catchy phrases on the walls in the restroom, encouraging workers to make less use of paper. The most prominent message, "Less tissue, No issue" is posted right above the paper towel dispenser. Yet so often, people grab at the towels as if it were free candy being offered to a kid. They grab a bundle of tissues, wrap it into a ball, and then dry their hands with it. Its an utter waste of paper.
I just wish, that people would realize that every small thing they do has an effect. Just take one paper towel. Unfold the towel and dry your hand with it. From personal experience, I can ensure that 1, just 1 paper towel, is enough to dry both your hands.
It is of great importance that we accept our responsibility towards the environment. Carry a handkerchief and dry your hands on it. If you forget, then use 1 paper towel only. It may seem of little significance, but when everyone, everywhere, reduces their consumption of paper towels, fewer would need to be produced each year, and consequently fewer trees cut every year. It is a gradual process, and every step counts.
In the words of my childhood cartoon hero (Captain Planet):
Remember, the power, is yours.
